The BUZZ

Great deals on toys! After the recent problems with Chinese toys, some stores, including Wal-Mart and Toys “R” Us, are discounting toy prices. Here’s an article on where to look for bargains.

Don’t let a strange suitcase follow you home These days, Russian scientists are putting their minds to more important things than the downfall of the West. Like a suitcase with headlights and bumpers, that follows you around the airport, avoiding obstacles
with built-in infrared and ultrasound sensors. Everyone needs one!  Click for more info.

The best star-gazing in Hollywood is not at some posh, exclusive club or at the private party of some studio exec. No, it’s on the picket line for the writer’ strike! All those shows and movies you love are not being written right now, and the actors whose fame comes from memorable stories and jokes are protesting, right alongside the writers who penned them. Outside the gates of Universal Studios last week you could have seen Ben Stiller, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry (Friends), Minnie Driver (The Riches), Joshua Jackson (Dawson’s Creek), Zach Braff (Scrubs), and the actors from the casts of Grey's Anatomy, Everyone Loves Raymond, Desperate Housewives, and CSI. Fortunately, the crack writing team at FunTalking, headed by yours truly, is not on strike, so you can continue to get the scoops and the skinny on latest in entertainment. For more info.

You don’t need $25,000 to try this Chocolate Sundae, if you’re a mouse, a fly, or a roach. New York’s famous Serendipity 3, site of many film shoots and home of the $25,000 desert, was shut down by the NYC Health inspector for 41 code violations. This after being warned a month ago that the shop was in non-compliance. Owner Stephen Bruce introduced the stratospheric sweet about the same time the Health Department did its first inspection. Maybe there’s a connection here. If he’d sold just one, he could probably have afforded pest control. Click for the whole sad tail.
Movie News!
How will you rent movies five years from now? Blockbuster thinks it knows.  Click for more info.

First pix of the new Batman, which is due out next July 18, can be seen here.  It will be called Dark Knight, and there’s also a trailer at the site, but no scenes from the film.

The skinny on December movie releases If you like to be the first one in the neighborhood to know what’s showing, and where, and when, this list will get you started. This site has a listing of all the movies to be released between now and New Year’s, along with links to stars, plot summaries, directors, etc.

The absolute worst movie titles ever devised, at least according to this pundit. Among his choices are "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood"  and "Gigli." I never did find out how to pronounce that.  One I thought should be on the list – The Godbrother. Haven’t seen it? Lucky you. Get the whole story.

Like father, like son? Mick Jagger’s 21-year-old son reportedly will play his dad in a new bio of the Rolling Stones. Click for more info.
